The Insider Q&A

Tell us about Halcyon Interiors.

Halcyon Interiors, on Wigmore Street, is a family-run kitchen design business, that’s been established in the industry for over 40 years.  We are unique on Wigmore Street as we are completely independent, which has given us the opportunity to curate our own edit of the best kitchen German furniture, appliance brands and surfaces to offer our clients.

As Head of Design at Halcyon Interiors, what does your role entail?

I work with Halcyon’s clients to create kitchens that will work perfectly for their way of life and are reflective of their personal style. Every kitchen we create is considered to ensure it will stand the test of time and stay stylish for years to come, creating timeless spaces is our ethos.  An important part of my role is keeping up with my media and industry contacts, sourcing new brands and products for our showrooms, creating and updating our displays and ensuring our flagship showroom is perfectly presented.

The Halcyon Interiors showroom is located on Wigmore Street – what are your favourite aspects of working in the Marylebone area?

I love the buzz of London.  I live in Fulham, so my commute is a short bus ride and l love seeing the architecture and scenery that we’re lucky enough to have in our city.  Marylebone is a great place to work, I love how friendly people are and the variety of different places to eat, shop and see design inspiration.

What are some of your must-visit recommendations for the area? Perhaps a favourite gallery or shop?

I love a browse in Shreeji newsagents on Chiltern Street for the best art, design and fashion publications – but if anyone is passing Ole and Steen on Wigmore Street my treat of choice is the Cardamon Swirl!

How would you choose to spend a day off in Marylebone?

I would meet a friend at Daylesford Organic on Blandford Street for brunch, then we would head to Chiltern Street to browse the independent shops, it’s important to support local.  I’d make sure to visit Diptique on Marylebone High Street to buy a candle, as they’re a great gift. Their scents are unrivalled, the ’34 Boulevard St Germain’ is a favourite of mine.

As I like to make food from scratch, I would pop into Waitrose & Partners on Marylebone High Street as I pass to select some ingredients to make a dahl or a vegetarian curry for dinner.  Before I head home, I might pop into one of the kitchen or appliances showrooms on Wigmore Street to say hello, we are quite close in the industry on this street!
